The fundamental purpose of eating by N.W. Walker, D. Sc.

"The fundamental purpose of eating is to replenish the chemical elements composing the cells and tissues in our body.  Replenishment is one of the basic laws of Nature in regard to organic chemistry, and our physical body is a laboratory functioning under organic chemistry principles."

"The food that we eat should nourish these cells and tissues.  Unfortunately, because nature gave to man a body so elastic, so far as taking punishment is concerned, that it can survive for years on food which is destructive to the body, but appealing to the appetite and palate, man has indulged these appetites until the human race is perceptibly degenerating mentally, as well as physically."

"The body is the vehicle of the mind, and the mind is the vehicle of the intellect.  The intellect is that part of the mind that we use in observing and reasoning."

"If the body is permitted to degenerate, then the intellect cannot be expected to function or develop constructively, as the spiritual and mental faculties in the person grow and expand in direct relation to the improvement, regeneration and purity of the physical body."

If a plant is not nourished, the leaves dry up...

If a plant is not nourished, the leaves dry up. Then, when we give it water and plant food, they start to become green and new leaves come. . . . Similarly, as we connect with the divine Nectar within, we receive the nourishment that our soul needs.

Hibiscus & Mint Tea – Organic and homemade

Recipe by:  Michelle Blancato

For the tea, I put the dried flowers and one small sprig of fresh mint in a plunge pot strainer and I pour boiling hot water over them.  Use 3-5 flowers depending on the strength you like.  I like a rich fruity flavor.  The tea will be a deep cranberry color.

Let the tea set for 5-10 minutes.

Enjoy it hot, or pour the tea over ice and enjoy a cool refreshing drink.

Hibiscus tea is made from the hibiscus flower called Hibiscus sabdariffa .. and the Hibiscus Tea yields health benefits.

Did you know that hibiscus herbal tea is not only delicious, but also a very healthy beverage?

According to Nile Valley Teas, studies have shown that drinking hibiscus tea can effectively lower high blood pressure and reduce high cholesterol levels in many individuals! Read an article about it in the February 1, 2009 issue of Internal Medicine News.

In yet another instance, scientists in Taiwan reported in The Journal of the Science of Food Agriculture that hibiscus tea made from the hibiscus flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa) may help control cholesterol, and thereby reduce the risk of heart disease. Scientists stated that the extract from the hibiscus flower significantly lowered the cholesterol content in the blood serum of lab animals, and successfully prevented oxidation of low-density lipoprotein. The extract has also been used in folk medicine to treat high blood pressure and liver disorder.

According to a 2004 study published in the journal Phytomedicine (2004;11:375–82), people suffering from hypertension can lower their blood pressure significantly by drinking hibiscus tea daily. The study included seventy people - half of whom drank 16 ounces of hibiscus tea before breakfast daily or ingested 25 mg of an antihypertensive medication (captopril) twice daily. After one month, the hibiscus tea drinkers’ diastolic blood pressure was reduced at least 10 points in 79% of the participants; blood pressure in the medicated group was reduced at least ten points in some 84% of the participants - a statistically insignificant difference.

The Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients (February-March, 2005 edition) reaffirms the results above.

Besides lowering high blood pressure and high cholesterol, this healthful hibiscus beverage has several characteristics that make it much more valuable than conventional teas.

·         hibiscus and hibiscus mint tea are caffeine free

·         hibiscus tea is also rich in Vitamin C

·         hibiscus tea has a unique, delicious taste

·         hibiscus tea has a smooth, pleasant fragrance

·         hibiscus tea has a distinctive, vibrant, natural color

·         hibiscus tea is great served hot or cold

·         hibiscus tea has long been known to act as a natural body refrigerant in North Africa

I have Hibiscus trees with beautiful  flowers growing in my backyard.  I pick the closed flowers (that bloomed yesterday) and I pull the whole flower out of the leafy sepal and put it on the drying rack in the sun.  Once all the trays are filled I stack them for drying.  It gets pretty hot here in Arizona, so it usually only takes a day to dry the flowers.

Welcome to God’s Food

I first want to by stating that is not a religious site, so I will not be be judging any person’s religion.  I think people around the world inherently all believe that God is good and wants the best for each and every one of us.

I am merely a Christian woman that believes in God and believes that our lives, our bodies and this beautiful planet are a gift from God.  I believe that we all have a duty to share information that will help one another to live a better life.

This Blog is all about sharing the information I have and new information that I come across.

Over the past 20+ years I have had a fascination with life, food and energy.   I led a “green life” long before it was fashionable.   I have stood in front of small audiences teaching about nutrition and eating clean foods.  I am an avid reader and a constant observer of the way that the body reacts to the foods we eat and the environment we live in.  We all have our favorite foods and way of doing things. Each and every one of us eats every day … so we in a way we are all experts on food in one way or another.

I have been an Omnivore, eating both plants and animals; a vegetarian; a vegan; and a raw foodist, eating only fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds.  After years of eating consciously, my years of knowledge on health and nutrition was subconsciously put into a file and put on a shelf.  I got married, had a blast cooking rich European meals and I went back to eating unconsciously.  Sadly in the process gained 60 pounds.  I never ever dreamed I would have a weight problem.  But wow ... what a wake up call for me.

I ate whatever I wanted and let processed foods change the way that my body behaved.  My body got fat, sick, sluggish, lazy and I grew to be much older than I actually am. I became unhappy, insecure about my image and me as a person, I stopped liking me and I even lost my sex drive despite being married to one very handsome and sexy man.  I have been a walking experiment and I now know what works best for me.  We may be individually unique, but what actually works best for each and every one of us is the same.  The answer has been in front of our faces all along.  The answer is God’s food.

I will answer what “God’s food” is in detail later.  But, for now, know this:

You don’t need to diet … not now … not ever again.

Do you know what foods work best for your body?

Are you trying to lose weight and can’t?

Have you tried every diet and you are tired of wasting your time?

God’s food is all you need.

Do you really know what is in your food or what that food is doing to your life and to the most valuable vehicle you have?   Your body is truly your temple and your only vehicle … and it is irreplaceable.  However, it is also the most amazing creation on earth.  You have the power right this very minute to decide as to whether you want a strong and vibrant vehicle or a vehicle that is just getting you by.  Maybe you have a vehicle that is sluggish, falling apart and not dependable.

What kind of vehicle do you want?  If you are like me, you want the Lamborghini of vehicles ... fast, sleek and beautiful.  A truly dependable vehicle that will allow you to go anywhere at top speeds if so desired.  A vehicle that can cross water and climb mountains.  A vehicle that will make you feel special from the moment you wake up in the morning until you fall asleep at night.  A vehicle that you are proud to be in and to take care of at all times.  For me it is a cobalt blue Lamborghini with the gas mileage of a Prius.  For you it may be a Rolls-Royce, a Mini Cooper, or a Mercedes, a Hummer, a F150 Truck, or maybe even a multi-million dollar leer jet.  All that matters is that your vehicle performs to the best of its abilities for you.

This blog is dedicated to all those that, like me, have a deep desire to live our best lives … and to enrich the lives of our love ones.  It is all up to you.

My blog is dedicated to everyone that wants to look and feel younger and feel as though age has no bearing on how you live your life today.  Live your life each and every day in greatness.

With light and love…
